Chinese 4 study

To begin with, I think that this year has been much more beneficial than the past few years just because of the way we have been learning Chinese. I believe that this method of teaching, having a more virtual classroom, is a better way to learn because we are using what we learn and putting new vocabulary and sentence structures into use everyday. This is especially demonstrated with the Tapped-In conversations. I really really liked the Tapped-In opportunity because I got a chance to use what I had learned in a conversation, which for me, is helpful in remembering that. The Tapped-In conversations were by far the most fun exercise for me out of this whole semester.

Today in class, Huang Lan brought up the idea that if the class were more of a conversation period, using Chinese of course, than a teaching period, it might help a lot more. I completely agree. Just this semester, I have been enjoying Chinese much more and have been much more excited to come to class because of the new teaching method and believe that if we had more conversations, than we would be able to speak the language much more comfortably and clearly. If Jin laoshi gave us a topic to discuss or if we just talked about what came up more often in class using Chinese, I think it would beneficial to the way we speak Chinese and we would all become more comfortable with the language.

I wish I had taken more advantage of the Blogger opportunity because I can see how it could help as well. Writing down a couple of sentences every now and then using the vocab and the sentence structures can help you remember them and remember to use them in a conversation. One of my goals for next semester is to take more advantage of this opportunity because I believe that it could really help me. I would also like to say that I really admire Bo si for all the hard work she has put into Chinese. She hasn't just worked hard on the blogger, but on everything in Chinese.

The only complaint that I have about this semester is that a lot of new information about the semester projects and final exam was jumped on to us in the middle of the semester and if it had been determined early in the year, I think everything would have been better organized and I personally would have felt much more comfortable about the classes final exam and about what we should be accomplishing and by when.

I have really enjoyed this year and I think that we should continue what we have done this semester into next semester, but include some different exercises such as the ones proposed in this blog entry.

Final Exam Test

About the test that Jin1 lao3 shi4 wants to give us at the end of the week when we go back to school, I honestly dont think that she should give us that. Wu Jian Feng he2 Ai Jia de kao3 shi4 wasnt very hard and even though there was some discussion about that, I felt that it was ok. It wasnt really a test anyway, at least not something that was going to go into our grade. All she wanted to do with that was test to see how our methods of teaching worked. The only reason why I would have had a problem with that was if all of got a test and Wu jian Feng and Ai Jia didnt because they were the ones writing it for us. But Jin1 Lao3 Shi4 did write one for them, so I really didnt have a problem with that. However, she should not give the test that she wants to give us once we go back to school. She told us that we would have to put together a portfolio INSTEAD of taking a test, and now shes going to give us one anyway. I know we have tried to convince her not to give us one, but I think we should discuss it one more time with her because with everything else shes giving us, a test is going to cause a lot more stress (because its just like a final exam anyway) and she said she wasnt going to give us one in the first place.

( It seemed as though Ai Jia did not do much on the building up to it either, but i wouldnt know that for sure.) Ta1 men de Power Point ye3 bu4 cuo4. Wode group (bosi, luobin, he liyu) jiao women de tongxue hou ge xingqi. Wo xiang that this teaching process went very well, keshi not as well as it could have. Wo juede bosi and the way she handled teaching the ciriculum was one issue that we had. Its not that she did a bad job, just that i didnt feel as though she gave luobin he wo as much of a chance to teach as we deserved. Wo juede women worked just as hard has she did in order to prepare to teach the class shi si ke he shi wu ke. However, overall, wo xiang women jiao shi si ke he shi wu ke jiao hen hao de. Xingqi yi he xingqi er, women jiao shi si ke. Xingqi yi, women jiao shi si ke de shengci. Women xie shengci on the board and explained what each meant and gave reasons for why the characters ment what it did. Women he women tongxue played "Go Fish" with the characters. Tamen de gong ke shi fuxi shi si ke de shengci. Xingqi er, women jiao shi si ke de yufa. Women each jiao yi ge yufa point and then women completed some excercises with them from the workbook. However, we ran out of time so we did not get to complete everything that we had laid out in the time line. Xingqi si women jiao shi wu ke de shengci.

星期一和星期二我的 group 做 project. 我们 completed 我们的 lesson plan, which turned out to be very thorough and detailed. Luobin 也做我们的 video. Bosi 和我完了lesson plan。我们的 lesson plan is designed so that 我的同学 will learn lesson 14 and 15 in the easiest way. 我们要我们的同学 to learn the lesson and remember them, 所以我们 added some games in the lesson plan so that 他们have fun learning teh information and that way they will remember the vocab and teh grammar points and understand them better.
